The best school in the world when it rains!
In Torslanda, just outside Gothenburg, the local administration is planning a new primary school for around 600 children in grades F-6, including the children’s school. special school. Great emphasis has been placed on the children’s outdoor environment, with rain playing the main role.
The varied roofscape and façade design contribute to the orientation and identification of children. Torslanda School will be a safe, playful and educational school that emphasizes the natural cycle of water, its power and importance. The rainwater is collected in a stormwater river in the middle of the schoolyard and then flows into a river delta. Opening and closing locks and a striking rain curtain encourage play and learning.
