As part of achieving Chalmers’ new vision for the future of learning, an extensive remodeling is now taking place in the Architect and the Road and Water House. With the renovation, the premises will be made more space-efficient and become offices and workspaces for both architects and engineers. The basement floor will be opened up and the increased need for smaller group rooms will be satisfied through the conversion of existing larger training rooms.
Construction of the Samhällsbyggnad project began in winter 2015, with the first occupancy taking place in fall 2016. The ambition is to meet the requirements for Miljöbyggnad Silver, which is a technical challenge in an old building.
The project is divided into two phases where phase 1 includes the reconstruction of the Road and Water House which is about 7,700 m2. Phase 2 includes the reconstruction of the Architecture Building, which is approximately 17,000 m2.
